They tried to push a similar citizen led ballot initiative in Arkansas of all places in 2024 but it never made it onto the ballot for technical reasons as far as signatures. What was most concerning for me as the sister of an OB/GYN was they published a list of all the OB/GYNs and pediatricians who proudly signed the petition and I new a ton of them including my own sister.

Was it a life in the 3rd trimester when if delivered he/she could have lived outside the mother’s womb?
Was it a life in the second trimester when the mother could feel him/her moving and kicking in her womb?
Was it a life when an ultrasound showed a what appeared to be a baby on a screen at 16-20 weeks?
Was it a life when the mother changed her eating habits so as not to harm him/her?
Was it a life when the first heartbeat was found in the first trimester?
Was it a life when a pregnancy test first showed a positive result and the mother started to consider how her life would be forever changed?
The answer is yes. It was always a life. It was a miracle that no one can explain, especially the mothers and fathers who wished and prayed that they would get a positive pregnancy test. It was a gift that only God could give, a miracle that changed from the simple multiplication of cells to a fully formed human with a complex body of systems that worked together perfectly to form a baby.
Somehow we need to get back to basics and reframe this argument. Life began when God made it so and no talk about clumps of cells or viability change that. Murder is taking someone else’s life against their will and that’s the perfect definition.
I do think the bottom line in how people see the baby, from conception to birth, is whether it is wanted or not. If wanted, everyone knows it is and was always a baby person; if unwanted -- it is seen as an intrusive blob of tissue, a non-human parasitic growth that must be excised.

There is one thing that I will push back on regarding wanted vs unwanted because we have to admit the simple truth. If a woman who doesn’t want children gets a positive pregnancy test she will have an immediate reaction. Most of the time it would be tears. Tears come because of an inconvenient reality for her. A positive pregnancy test means that her life is forever changed. It is only forever changed because she has realized with clarity that there is a life growing within her. Everything else is moral relativism but it doesn’t change the reality at hand. She can ignore it or deny it all she wants but it doesn’t change it. Her choice is now to act to make it go away or act to accept it. Either way, in making that choice to act one way or the other she has just admitted that life has begun and it must be dealt with in one way or another.

Portland is really purple and they will probably come back, but San Francisco, I am not too sure about, even with the AI boom. I even got one of them to agree to a tentative agreement to supply poultry gizzards (something they don't sell in the human space) for my dog, something that won't happen in the blue areas of the state.
One thing that I didn't know was that these Marxists didn't win by a landslide that we have seen on the Republican side. They barely squeaked by and in WI, lost my three votes. This will lead to a very interesting election cycle and Trump's MAGA PAC war chest of $400.million can be deployed for a uniform messaging. That said, these Socialists have shown fundraising prowess (most I suspect are foreign) with local messaging, a different strategy. The DNC has no money for national messaging, but local messaging can win House seats. That translates to some House races will be competitive even in some districts that Trump won, whereas in the contested Senate races, Trump supported candidates may have an easier time. Local messaging doesn't work that well in most states unless the sates don't have red precincts, which is not true. They all do.
All in all, I would say other than MA, this issue if BB is good news and a nice start if the week.

The new MA law regarding abortion is one of the most disheartening things I have ever seen. They tried to push a similar citizen led ballot initiative in Arkansas of all places in 2024 but it never made it onto the ballot for technical reasons as far as signatures. What was most concerning for me as the sister of an OB/GYN was they published a list of all the OB/GYNs and pediatricians who proudly signed the petition and I new a ton of them including my own sister.
I was pleased to see that BB, the final member of the Badlands Brief team to become a parent (and a former liberal), had come to understand the argument better through reverse engineering the issue regarding abortion back through his conditioned stance of the past. Was it a life in the second trimester when the mother could feel him/her moving and kicking in her womb?
Was it a life when an ultrasound showed a what appeared to be a baby on a screen at 16-20 weeks?
Was it a life when the mother changed her eating habits so as not to harm him/her?
Was it a life when the first heartbeat was found in the first trimester?
Was it a life when a pregnancy test first showed a positive result and the mother started to consider how her life would be forever changed?
The answer is yes. It was always a life. It was a miracle that no one can explain, especially the mothers and fathers who wished and prayed that they would get a positive pregnancy test. It was a gift that only God could give, a miracle that changed from the simple multiplication of cells to a fully formed human with a complex body of systems that worked together perfectly to form a baby.
Somehow we need to get back to basics and reframe this argument. Life began when God made it so and no talk about clumps of cells or viability change that. Murder is taking someone else’s life against their will and that’s the perfect definition.

There is one thing that I will push back on regarding wanted vs unwanted because we have to admit the simple truth. If a woman who doesn’t want children gets a positive pregnancy test she will have an immediate reaction. Most of the time it would be tears. Tears come because of an inconvenient reality for her. A positive pregnancy test means that her life is forever changed. It is only forever changed because she has realized with clarity that there is a life growing within her. Everything else is moral relativism but it doesn’t change the reality at hand. She can ignore it or deny it all she wants but it doesn’t change it. Her choice is now to act to make it go away or act to accept it. Either way, in making that choice to act one way or the other she has just admitted that life has begun and it must be dealt with in one way or another.

Portland is really purple and they will probably come back, but San Francisco, I am not too sure about, even with the AI boom. However, being pushed by Bidenomics to a rural area has taught me a lot about what the GA is all about and how important it is to cultivate a commercial relationship with local farmers. I even got one of them to agree to a tentative agreement to supply poultry gizzards (something they don't sell in the human space) for my dog, something that won't happen in the blue areas of the state.
One thing that I didn't know was that these Marxists didn't win by a landslide that we have seen on the Republican side. They barely squeaked by and in WI, lost my three votes. This will lead to a very interesting election cycle and Trump's MAGA PAC war chest of $400.million can be deployed for a uniform messaging. That said, these Socialists have shown fundraising prowess (most I suspect are foreign) with local messaging, a different strategy. The DNC has no money for national messaging, but local messaging can win House seats. That translates to some House races will be competitive even in some districts that Trump won, whereas in the contested Senate races, Trump supported candidates may have an easier time. Local messaging doesn't work that well in most states unless the sates don't have red precincts, which is not true. They all do.
All in all, I would say other than MA, this issue if BB is good news and a nice start if the week.
