I agree that the concentrated form is unnecessary, but the plant itself has saved many lives. Actually, Thomas Jefferson is right in the middle of the mess we are dealing with today. In 1801 he set out to reverse the Alien and Sedition Act that John Adams made into law in 1798. The Alien portion still stands, but he did away with the illegality of Sedition.
In other words, he essentially made sedition legal and lying to attack our government became acceptable. In my opinion, what should have happened is the 1798 law ought to have been challenged in the Supreme Court. Instead he changed the law in his Congress and itβs legality pro and con weβre never decided.
This Constitutional history really needs more discussion.

We made our plans with friends, all that was expected was to tell Mom where we were going and when we'd be back. It was OK (once we got to junior high) if 'where' was across town, or downtown, whatever.
Kids raised that way develop initiative and self-confidence along with social skills they'll need when the time comes for them to go off to university, get a job, develop intimate relationships, and so forth.
