Now, onto the news from Wednesday, February 22 …
Putin submits law on suspending nuclear arms treaty
Russia will continue to observe limits on the number of nuclear warheads it can deploy under the New START treaty despite a decision to suspend participation in the agreement, Moscow said on Tuesday.
President Vladimir Putin announced the freeze during a speech to both houses of the Russian parliament in which he also repeated accusations the West was seeking to destroy Russia.
Later in the day Putin submitted a draft law on the suspension to the Duma, the lower house of parliament, which will consider it on Wednesday and take an immediate decision, Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said in a statement. — Reuters
Our Take: “Good thing the deep-state fixed the election and saved us all from Trump, who most certainly would have started World War III ...
Remember when the left truly believed with all their hearts that Donald Trump would start a war? Now Joe Biden has successfully undone 50 years of diplomacy and his base are vehemently supporting war against Russia.
I can't speak for everyone here at Badlands, but I think most of us agree that there probably won't be an actual nuclear attack, and that this posturing is more theater than anything else. Maybe we will have what appears to be a mass near death experience (and maybe that's what's needed to wake up the stubbornly asleep) but I just don't envision a reality where this leads to actual nuclear war.
Of course, I could be way wrong. If so, I bet Klaus Schwab, Bill Gates and the depopulation crowd are thrilled about these prospects.
Now here's some speculation: imagine Donald Trump somehow cuts a deal between all parties and brings humanity back from the brink of nuclear annihilation. Seems like that would pretty much seal his 2024 campaign as a sure win.” — Ryan DeLarme
House Oversight Republicans demand accounting of US aid to Ukraine
House Oversight Republicans want the Biden administration to account for the billions of dollars Congress has sent to Ukraine amid growing questions about whether the aid should continue at current levels.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and other members of his panel said in a letter to the Biden administration on Wednesday that his committee is seeking a detailed record of where funding has gone so far and what safeguards the administration has put in place to prevent wasteful spending. — Washington Examiner
Our Take: “So far, these committees are delivering on their promises. This effort to get at details of Ukraine spending is coinciding with a shift in Congress, and in the public, against further Ukraine aid.
It also pairs well with the work the DoD OIG and other IGs are doing. They also put out a document today, an 'Oversight Update: Ukraine Assistance' pdf, which says the "DoD OIG is currently planning five potential oversight projects related to Ukraine." — Just Human
SCOTUS again denies hearing 2020 election case alleging Biden, Harris, lawmakers ignored fraud
The Supreme Court announced Tuesday it will not hear a 2020 election lawsuit against former Vice President Mike Pence, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, 291 House members and 94 senators, after a petition to reconsider was filed last month.
The lawsuit alleges the respondents violated their oaths of office by refusing to investigate evidence of fraud in the 2020 election before accepting the electoral votes on Jan. 6, 2021, allowing for Biden and Harris to be "fraudulently" inaugurated.
The court held a private conference Friday to vote to reconsider whether to hear the case, releasing its decision Tuesday. Four of the nine justices must vote to hear a case for it to move forward. — Just the News
Our Take: “Who will do something?
The 2020 election has been in doubt for a litany of reasons that anyone with common sense knows should, at the very least, be investigated. The courts, whether high or low, have consistently ignored the evidence, citing lack of standing in some cases as a basis for not hearing the case out to completion. No official with any teeth has even given it a fair day in court.
Arguably, there is some merit to these decisions. And yet, the American people are left wondering to what extent the fraud needs to occur for someone to do something.
Let's assume, for the moment, that the courts are all doing what they should—that despite the mountains of evidence, the right forms weren't used, the proper process wasn't in place, or whatever technicality is cited to side-step a full and complete investigation. Congress refuses to conduct hearings.
Many election officials continue to argue the election was the most secure in history. And yet, regular people, who are not experts, lawyers, or politicians, continue to find more and more evidence that casts the election into doubt.
Perhaps the problem is far greater than a rigged election. Perhaps the problem is that the entire system is, at best, defunct insofar as acting to defend and protect the rights of the people, and at worst, a total tyranny.
At some point, after all petitions have been signed, attempts at legal solutions tested, and protests made to every official available, WE THE PEOPLE have to ask: if not us, then who? If not now, then when?
If a murder took place, would a failure to dot an I or cross a T be a valid excuse not to investigate? If we do nothing, if we let this fade into the fog of history, our children will never know the truth, and their children won't know enough to ask for the truth.” — Justin Deschamps
NC Supreme Court to rehear two recently decided voting cases after majority flips
The new 5-2 Republican majority on the N.C. Supreme Court took a rare step toward rehearing two recently decided cases on partisan gerrymandering and voting rights on Feb. 3, suggesting it is open to overturning them altogether.
The decision to rehear the cases — which found a voter ID law discriminated against voters of color and reaffirmed the court's decision to redraw election maps — comes just about a month and a half after they were handed down by an outgoing Democratic majority.
Harper v. Hall, the gerrymandering case, determined that state Republicans gerrymandered maps to produce a partisan advantage in the state's congressional delegation and in the state House.
A reheard case is unusual at the state Supreme Court level in North Carolina. A petition for rehearing has been granted by the court only twice in the past 30 years. — The Daily Tar Heel
Our Take: “Voting matters.
In North Carolina, the State Supreme Court was flipped from a Democrat majority to a Republican Super Majority in November. On their way out, the Democratic Justices legislated from the bench against the wishes of residents of the state and decided that Voter ID was unconstitutional, and that Republicans had unfairly gerrymandered districts to gain seats.
Neither assertion is accurate.
The high likelihood of the Republican State Supreme Court overturning both of these decisions showcases the fact that North Carolinians took to the polls in November and were able to vote out incredibly biased, if not corrupt, State Supreme Court Justices.” — AbsoluteTruth1776
Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump Subpoenaed in Jan. 6 Investigation
Former President Donald J. Trump’s daughter Ivanka and his son-in-law Jared Kushner have been subpoenaed by the special counsel to testify before a federal grand jury about Mr. Trump’s efforts to stay in power after he lost the 2020 election and his role in a pro-Trump mob’s attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to two people briefed on the matter.
The decision by the special counsel, Jack Smith, to subpoena Ms. Trump and Mr. Kushner underscores how deeply into Mr. Trump’s inner circle Mr. Smith is reaching, and is the latest sign that no potential high-level witness is off limits.
The disclosure about the subpoena comes two weeks after it was revealed that Mr. Smith had subpoenaed former Vice President Mike Pence to testify before the grand jury. Mr. Pence plans to fight the subpoena, invoking his role as the president of the Senate to argue that it violates the “speech or debate” clause of the Constitution.
It is unclear whether Mr. Trump will seek to block Ms. Trump and Mr. Kushner from testifying on the grounds of executive privilege, as he has tried with some other witnesses. Both of them served as White House officials in the Trump administration. Mr. Trump declined to try to stop them from testifying before the House special committee that investigated the Jan. 6 attack and what led to it. — The New York Times
Our Take: “Special Counsel Smith is gonna clear Trump and his team of any wrong doing. And as he investigates these matters, he will end up gathering evidence of the 2020 election fraud and the J6 coup against Trump.
I think he’ll likely indict some swampy creatures. Perhaps some Reps and some Dems.
So, in my mind, developments like this are good news.” — Just Human

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
To whom have they sworn allegiance now? Biden?
We the American people have been and are continuing to be assaulted by an enemy both foreign and domestic since 2020. That is clear to many Americans. The Constitution has clearly been violated too.
It has been repeatedly said to follow the rule of law and I agree with that but what will happen when that route is exhausted and it appears that we are just about there. What’s the next step?
Good morning team badlands! Thank you for this brief news Update and your take on it. Goes well with my morning coffee❣️😱🤣♥️☮️
