In the Badlands News Brief, the Badlands Media team is going to take you through a few news items of interest from the previous day in an attempt to give you an overview of the biggest goings-on relevant to the Truth Community while introducing you to some brief, original commentary from our growing team of citizen journalists.

Trump’s Facebook, Instagram accounts to be reinstated, Meta says

Meta said Wednesday it will soon lift its ban on former President Donald Trump, who was suspended from Facebook and Instagram after the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol in 2021.

Meta executive Nick Clegg said Mr. Trump will face heightened scrutiny upon his return.

“We will be reinstating Mr. Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts in the coming weeks,” Mr. Clegg wrote on Meta’s blog. “However, we are doing so with new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses.”

Meta said Mr. Trump would be subject to the company’s rules like other users but he will also face “heightened penalties for repeat offenses.” — The Washington Times

Our Take: “This is a symbolic admission of wrongful suspension in light of the Congressional Jan 6th Witch Hunt. The hearings essentially highlighted their vindictive nature more than anything, along with Washington's willingness to obfuscate and twist the truth for political gain. In short, it was a dud. And as time goes on, President Trump's subsequent suspensions from all Major Social Media seem less and less warranted. It is akin to some of the testimonials following the Salem Witch trials made by judges who lamented their sentencings. Once the smoke had cleared and the hysteria had died down, many felt massive guilt for their participation in the hangings. I do not believe that META President Nick Clegg feels one bit of remorse, nor do any top executives at Facebook. However I do see this move as a reflection of their ability to "read the room" in light of MANY beginning to see things in a different light. This is of course also very much a product of the Twitter Files and the Government Meddling they have revealed. This is a crime they themselves have no doubt also been in violation of. As they try to get ahead of it, reinstating President Trump seems the obvious move. Finally, the move comes with restrictions and threat of future suspension which I fully expect them to use to the fullest and in their typical vindictive manner. Media layoffs loom large over 2023

A slew of media companies and tech firms have begun to announce sweeping job cuts as the economy continues to face uncertainty.

Why it matters: For millions of people across both industries, the layoffs feel like whiplash.

Flashback: An unprecedented number of jobs were cut early on in the pandemic, as a response to temporary advertising headwinds. Now, it looks like those fears are trickling back.

Details: After a rough winter with cuts at entertainment giants like Warner Bros. Discovery and Disney, digital media brands like Morning Brew and Vice Media and newspapers like Gannett, more media companies started the year with news of layoffs. — Axios

Our Take: “I thought this was a serendipitous follow-up to Brad’s take above. Isn’t it interesting that the same Big Tech world that acted as a constant anti-MAGA cudgel during Trump’s time in the public seat of political and cultural power is now opening their gates for him to return … while they’re in the midst of the biggest layoffs their companies have seen in over a decade? From Facebook and Instagram to Twitter and the Media Industrial Complex, we’re about to enter a period of massive corporate consolidation and shrinkage, paving the way for independent journalists and platforms while those that acted as gatekeepers are relegated to the place they’ve always belonged: the trash heap.” — Burning Bright

Mexico Has Banned All Attempts to Block the Sun

Mexico has banned solar geoengineering experiments after a startup sent sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere.

Solar geoengineering aims to make Earth’s atmosphere a more effective solar reflector.

We don’t even know if solar geoengineering is a good idea, but the White House is currently assessing how we can alter our atmosphere and cool the planet. — Popular Mechanics

Our Take: “It appears Mexico isn't having any of the Bill Gates/Harvard created nonsense to block out the sun for "climate change." If you're planning to go to Cancun, you won't have to worry about planes dumping sulfur dioxide over the beaches. NSPM 28: The National Operations Security Program

Our Take: “I have often discussed the importance of OPSEC. The bottom line with OPSEC is that anybody involved in ops will NOT openly discuss their involvement and maybe even deny the op altogether. As you have seen throughout my series, Trump made numerous moves leading me to believe there is something bigger going on behind the scenes. Yet people continue to say “(insert name here) denied it so it can’t be true” Well, check this out …

The other day, I posted a thread about the unprecedented 9 NSPMs Trump issued over his last 8 days in office. Not something a lame duck President would be doing.

But look closer at the first of those dated 1/13/21 NSPM 28: The National Operations Security Program.

Looky what I finally found:

NSPM 28 “established” & “implemented” OPSEC at the Executive Branch of the USG and “beyond to trusted partners.”

This means that Trump implemented OPSEC, typically used for military ops, at the WH and to trusted partners on his way out the door. Curious, no? “But everybody denies devo is happening”

German Foreign Minister Just Said The Quiet Part Out Loud On Ukraine

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock bluntly stated in fresh remarks that Western allies are fighting a war against Russia. The remarks came during a debate at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Tuesday amid discussions over sending Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

While Baerbock's words were largely ignored in mainstream media, a number of pundits on social media noted with alarm that the German foreign minister just essentially declared war on Russia.

Ironically other German officials have long sought to emphasize their country is not a party to the conflict, fearing uncontrollable escalation.

Contradicting this official stance, Baerbock said the quiet part out loud, and introduced the comments with: "And therefore I’ve said already in the last days – yes, we have to do more to defend Ukraine. Yes, we have to do more also on tanks."

And that's when she asserted: "But the most important and the crucial part is that we do it together and that we do not do the blame game in Europe, because we are fighting a war against Russia and not against each other.” — ZeroHedge

Our Take: “The American—and European—public have been given a front-row seat to the core mechanisms behind many of the Deep State’s Systems over the course of the last few years. I would argue that Vladimir Putin and his ‘war’ on Ukraine has exposed more over the course of the last 11 months than almost any other deployment we have seen. Ukraine is a Globalist proxy state, used for human rights abuses, money laundering, political favor laundering and human trafficking, and NATO countries such as Germany are getting mighty nervous that their golden goose’s days of laying eggs have come to an end.” — Burning Bright

FAA Change to Heart-Test Limit Triggers Worries Over Pilot Health, Public Safety

Concerns and controversy are swirling around the decision the decision by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to alter an electrocadiogram test limit for pilots. — The Epoch Times

Our Take: “Pilots and aviation advocacy groups are sounding the alarms over the FAA's change to their heart test limits. The FAA changed their limits on the "PR interval," which represents the time it takes for an electrical impulse to travel from one part of the heart to another. The new limit the FAA set is 50 percent longer than the previous limit. The FAA is supposed to make flying in our skies safer, but here they are doing the opposite.” — Jordan Sather
