"Given that Trump is essentially on trial for “lying” about the theft of the 2020 election, his defense rests upon proving that he was telling the truth."

This is overreach. First Trump does not need to prove anything; all he must do (these are criminal allegations with jail time attached) is create a reasonable doubt about the government's case against him. This is a far lighter burden, and it is even lighter than the 'preponderance of evidence' standard used in civil cases.

Secondly, the issue is not whether Trump was telling the truth, it is whether Trump believed he was telling the truth. You do hit on this fact elsewhere, but it is a very important distinction. It is this distinction which gives Trump the right to bring evidence forward regarding his state of mind. If the matter was simply about 'the truth,' Trump's state of mind would be irrelevant; the government would be free to present whatever evidence they deem relevant to establishing 'the truth.' Trump's beliefs would be irrelevant; but in reality they are the essence of the matter.

Trump's right to bring forth evidence supporting his belief that the election was stolen from him is key to his defense, and also key to the disclosure that he and the White Hats are planning. The government cannot deny him the right to present this evidence, though they may well try. Those decisions (which would be violations of due process) may be appealed and if there is a pattern of obstruction by the government, can be cause for recusal, change of venue, or even dismissal with prejudice.

My belief is that these indictments were a smoke screen, intended to draw attention away from something [they] did not want people to see -- evidence of the Biden crime family's nefarious acts. The government does not want these cases to be heard, instead they will likely end up dropped as quietly as they can manage.

Thank you! I’ve reread a couple of times.

Wild Bill - Why can't both explanations be true? Biden and Co. want/need a distraction. No doubt about it. By the same token this IS the opportunities for Trump and the White Hats to finally inject the evidence of the obviously stolen election. Fani went so far as to place the issues on a national stage. Trump's defense couldn't have asked for a better venue (Georga election fraud evidence) or set-up.

And how about the19 members of "Team Trump". Where could you gather a more perfect group of defendants? All of them part of the attempts to disclose and motivated to cooperate for the win.

Divide and conquer is exactly what they are now doing to Fani. She will have to expend TREMENDOUS resources (especially for a District AG) to operate in each of the theatres.

The 30,000-foot view is a perfectly flimsy case created for exposure. Ditto for Jack.

Hi Windlord, they both are true to some extent. The timing makes it obvious that [they] are trying to hide the Bidens' indiscretions; but as these cases go forward it presents a perfect opportunity for Trump and team to score some (perhaps very important) points.

I do not know to what extent Fani and Jack actually thought through these indictments, as in, what would Trump's team do in defense and what problems might that create for [their] team? Evidence at this point says that they likely did not, which could be for many reasons, for instance:

1. They are actually on the White Hat team (this does not look likely to me but anything is possible in these crazy times)

2. They are not very bright and did not think ahead because, well, they can't.

2a. They will drop the cases once they see what is happening.

3. They knew that these cases would be dropped, because they did not want to give Trump's team the ability to put this election-fraud evidence in the public record, but they needed to create a smokescreen (Newt Gingrich said he had on very reliable advice that Fani was told what day to drop her indictments).

4. They actually intend to carry these cases through to the bitter end, and may actually believe that they will win. (That might change when things don't go how they plan.)

So yes, there are many possibilities. I believe the most likely is #3 above, but any of them (and likely others) are also quite possible. It will be fun to watch, whatever way it goes. 🍿

Trump has nothing to prove, I agree. The heavy burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt is is the State’s burden. He does have to opportunity to prove the facts of the election in 2020 and how the laws were not followed, but something in my gut says “keep your powder dry” unless it appears the government can convict you for your state of mind, or creating a criminal conspiracy. He has at least one great attorney who will know when to speak, or when to let them sink their ship.

The Five Rules of Propaganda

1. The rule of simplification - reducing all data to a simple confrontation between 'Good and Bad', 'Friend and Foe'.

2. The rule of disfiguration - discrediting the opposition by crude smears and parodies.

3. The rule of transfusion - manipulating the consensus values of the target audience for one's own ends.

4. The rule of unanimity - presenting one's viewpoint as if it were unanimous opinion of all right-thinking people: draining the doubting individual into agreement by the appeal of star-performers, by social pressure , and by 'psychological contagion'.

5. The rule of orchestration - endlessly repeating the same messages in different variations and combinations.

My gut reaction is that they are trying to build future careers in politics, BUT that doesn't mean it is impossible to think that they are being guided down this path perhaps by a potential deep operative at the DOJ or elsewhere. Greedy and ambitious people are the easiest to maneuver.

Great article. I definitely believe Jack and Fani are in on the plan - this is the first time I've heard someone else say that.

The way Trump publicly insults them defies logic. Who, in their right mind, would repeatedly insult the people prosecuting them in court - unless they were part of the plan?

Thanks for a great, well-written article. God Bless!

I think Smith might be, and convinced Fani to act in GA, because she wasn't clever enough to sense the trap. She aspires to higher office, and springing the trap would be double-dipping!!

IMHO Willis and Smith are not a part of any plan. They are just incompetent prosecutors at best. Willis may have been provoked into doing it, Smith...who knows? Garland had to bring him back to the States from Belgium. Maybe Garland chose him because of his past poor track record and could use him as a scapegoat when this whole thing goes South. Hopefully the evidence can be admitted. If not, certainly then there grounds for appeal. WWG1WGA

This is all a big show. Are they in on it? I don't think so. Simply two less than the sharpest knives in the drawer trying to get their BS over the finish line. Are juries that dumb? Not the ones I've seen. But you haven't asked the really big question, "What if Trump is found guilty?" Is the left that stupid?

The Ivermectin one? It does much more than that. Right now there are three world leaders and Trump is one. For months I've known it was a show-the witch hunts. They would make him a martyr? That's foolish no matter how desperate they are. So they took a couple of prosecutors who will do anything. The Trump that they have isn't even a man. But they can't know that. Like me, just enjoy the show.

Smith and Willis are either playing their roles in the White Hat operation or they'e both so filled with hate for anything Trumpian that their critical thinking skills have atrophied, rendering them hopelessly imbecilic. The only middle ground I can envision is that they're both simply playing their assigned Deep State roles, throwing everything they can at him (AND his supporters - always a HUGE mistake!) in hopes of weakening him in any manner whatsoever. If that's the case, there doesn't appear to be any favorable path forward for them which will undermine the backing that Trump continues to cultivate from the awakening mass of disgruntled and dispirited Americans.

So, I'm feeling rather comfy, myself. But, the promised STORM is upon us and it will likely get worse before it gets better. I see it as a healing crisis, painful yet needed.

I think you're right and we do approach the moment the catharsis will occur ...

Definition:

* Purgation, especially for the digestive system.

* A purifying or figurative cleansing of the emotions, especially pity and fear, described by Aristotle as an effect of tragic drama on its audience.

* A release of emotional tension, as after an overwhelming experience, that restores or refreshes the spirit.

Many are forgetting that the required intelligence document that was supposed to be delivered 45 days after the election regarding election fraud, was late. The reason it was late is because the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) found evidence of election fraud. The argument was if the fraud was enough to change the election. Along with this we need to look at the EO 13848 which states any evidence of election interference by another country. Not significant enough interference to change the election. A very distinct difference. Are we living under the actions regarding EO 13848? Are we watching a movie? Clearly the masked person playing the Resident Let's Go Brandon FJB is not the same Joe as the VP. The pictures side by side tell the story... All of these questions go unanswered!! Do you see a pattern here??? Peace...

And that EO 13848 about “foreign” interference in our election becomes so interesting when you consider that D.C. is not actually part of the Republic…more like a “foreign” country

What an interesting time to be alive, we are blessed to be here to experience this transition. If we are in some kind of continuity of government (COG) or devolution, and I believe we are. The changes that are coming will be interesting. Part of the issue is the deep state isn't sure like we aren't sure what the plan is. Thus the document indictment. What was it they were really looking for? Clues to the COG plan? We have to keep a 40,000 foot view in mind when engaging these topics. One piece of information doesn't always effect the whole....
