Great question, Trumpist, and I suspect the answer might just be mental illness….created and implemented over decades. Or, as the Bible notes, good becomes evil and evil becomes good. Kind of where we’re at.
I think that left wing loonies get away with a lot of crime and in doing so become very bold in their approach to more crime. Yes it's white collar but still crime and up until now, NO one was being arrested for this fraud, so when they get away with it, others step in for their piece of the pie. The Somalis are cream of the crop when it comes to defrauding the USG. They aren't smart enough to have devised the scheme and most likely had help from politicians or NGOs in Minn. They should be deported. They took an oath when they got their citizenship here and it should benegated by their criminal activity.

In my direct experience of it? It's the "fish in water" thing. They're so used to things being like this...it's just how it is.
Also: many many many people are wrapped up in it. If not them, then a spouse, friend, or relative. If not that, then a neighbor.
If all else fails, there's the political polarization trick: anyone questioning How Things Work must be a MAGAt knotsee fashist HITLARRRR or something. (It's only fraud when done by the people you personally hate.)
If you question it, or worse, refuse to participate, then YOU are the criminal for breaking ranks with what has been normalized. The gossip and disinformation mill gets turned on. People who want to signal their allegiance to The Blob weigh in loudly.
Where I and my darling experienced this most personally and painfully (as whistleblowers re: local fraud), what we saw was how in government work, people get access, and retain it, by doing what they're told, or see others do. In places where the real economy has been largely destroyed and job options are pretty much limited to government work (including "teaching"), not making waves and "reading the room" for what you're supposed to think and do is a top job skill. Everybody's trying to hang on to their little spot in the machine...maybe climb upward if they can.
Their access to that system and the complex relationships worked out can all be lost in a moment of sunshine, so people try to keep things hidden.
For example, when we said no to committing fraud and reported it to city officials in charge of the program operating so fraudulently, because the pressure of open fraud was backstopped by secret fraud we had no idea had happened before (the city official we dealt with sighed and said, "Yeah, we thought this might be happening")...we not only lost that contract, and any hope of others in the future, people tried to get my darling fired at work. Fortunately nobody in the management team believed the lies being told. They basically said, "Yeah, we've seen this before." !!!!! So. Those with the power to end it tolerate it instead.
As for the Blob system there are a lot of marginal participants hoping to get in further. Or depending on insiders for their pittances with which they get by. (Especially in "arts" circles.) It's possible to live a pretty good quality life on little money when the polity/community hasn't yet been destroyed by this sort of tax-funded parasitic culture. Or it attracts people with family money and no respect for right and wrong. Insiders set the standards of morality.
It's a completely different universe and as Tom notes below, this is the core and crux of The Deep State. "Law" means "what can I get away with." It operates like any organized crime enterprise. If you buy in at any level, they own you. If you don't buy in, they will do what they can to destroy you. Once you're in, they can kick you out at any time.

It strikes me in following BB and Ghost on this latest template in Iran that Trump knows what the outcome is going to be. He has since before the first actual bomb was dropped. He's "just" using the process to put the screws to those countries that have gotten fat and happy under the U.S. military umbrella as well as to move the process of bringing the Sovereign Alliance out into the open.
As much as I, and others, would like all signals to be true and clear and free of distortion (lies), we live in a world that has been literally buried in lies. Everything is inverted: designed to do what is the opposite of its purpose once layers are peeled back. And at every step individuals who were placed in positions of trust on the assumption they would tell the truth as fair, honest agents, failed.
Drifting into analogy-land for a moment, if you find someone eating weeds (some poisonous) from their "garden", and you want to fix the problem, you can A) laboriously teach them what an edible plant is versus a weed, sort out what's growing and rebalance until the nutrition works, or B) roto-till the whole plot under, yank out the roots that turn up, and plant good food into the soil.
Given the malnutrition of the subject, option B appears the only viable choice, despite their earnest protestations that you are, in fact, destroying their "food".

It strikes me in following BB and Ghost on this latest template in Iran that Trump knows what the outcome is going to be. He has since before the first actual bomb was dropped. As much as I, and others, would like all signals to be true and clear and free of distortion (lies), we live in a world that has been literally buried in lies. Everything is inverted: designed to do what is the opposite of its purpose once layers are peeled back. And at every step individuals who were placed in positions of trust on the assumption they would tell the truth as fair, honest agents, failed.
Drifting into analogy-land for a moment, if you find someone eating weeds (some poisonous) from their "garden", and you want to fix the problem, you can A) laboriously teach them what an edible plant is versus a weed, sort out what's growing and rebalance until the nutrition works, or B) roto-till the whole plot under, yank out the roots that turn up, and plant good food into the soil.
Given the malnutrition of the subject, option B appears the only viable choice, despite their earnest protestations that you are, in fact, destroying their "food".

Honestly it's truly staggering how much wealth has been stolen from Americans over the last century+. I'd always been focused on taxation and impossible to pay interest to the Federal Reserve - those two sources alone are trillions stolen. Then there's Wall Street and Congressional 2-step to boot.
