Last night my husband and I watched "The Alamo" with John Wayne. There was one particular scene that truly caught my attention. Davy Crockett (John Wayne) talking about the word "Republic" and what it means to him - maybe especially after his service in Congress.

Been to China and Guatemala and most of our states and the message is the same: people want to live and provide for their families. They bankrupted America by printing fiat currency beginning in 1862 to fund the Civil War. By 1869 there was a run on the banks and our Treasury was days away from bankruptcy if the demand continued. J.P. Morgan, backed by the City of London bailed us out with a new supply of Gold, but demanded a guaranteed promise of repayment. Thus, the Act of 1871! Seeing the new AF1 reminded me of something very odd. I may very well be wrong, but I never saw a video nor a photo of pretendant 'Biden' boarding AF1. The gas stations that paid for the gas in their storage tanks need to sell it at a profit. The price will soon match the new mark-up needs and drop. Our system is slow to react to quick changes and we are seeing it right now.
Smart operations go ahead and drop the price to get rid of their expensive fuel so they can buy the lower priced stuff, but that can be a losing proposition if oil drops even farther. The gas stations that paid for the gas in their storage tanks need to sell it at a profit. The price will soon match the new mark-up needs and drop. Our system is slow to react to quick changes and we are seeing it right now.
Smart operations go ahead and drop the price to get rid of their expensive fuel so they can buy the lower priced stuff, but that can be a losing proposition if oil drops even farther. The problem today is no one knows how low oil might go. We need to see the bottom before sellers act rationally again.

When the international oil price goes up following any crisis or market wrong analysis/feeling, the prices at the pumps skyrocket at best 2 days later, and they're often preceded by our own governments rises of taxes !

Precisely!!! The oil in the storage tanks is cheaper than the oil they will be buying tomorrow, so they take advantage of the crisis. They know the price will be dropping drastically in maybe several months and they will be stuck with high priced oil then. So, they make hay while the sun shines!
This not insane! This is good business. Ultimately, their job is to stay in business which means they cannot lose money. Our government is the opposite. They never make money, they steal it or just print it. Business cannot do either.
They price on future expectations when prices are rising, and on inventory cost when they are dropping. It's that simple.
Should it be that way? It will, unless someone stops them... which is unlikely.
Jimmy Carter tried to stop them in 1978 with laws to fix profits on oil and on gas sales. The result was zero affect. The laws died in 1981 because that were not working at all. Our government has no business trying to dictate to business.
Energy is a perfect example. Oil will ultimately fall into scarce supply. Until then humans will find more and drill wells to profit from it. But, very long term the supply and demand will dictate high enough prices that electric vehicles will become economical and I will bet a lot of money that the oil companies will evolve their gasoline and diesel stations into charging facilities to still profit from selling energy. That is how our beautiful design works.
Democrats cannot accept that fact. They want it now! Or, that is what they claim and demand by law. They decided to force us to buy electric vehicles right now and created high gasoline prices to sell the idea. And they invented C02 as a pollutant to make the urgency even greater. Kids in our schools were taught their lies to get things moving faster at home.
In the process they came close to bankrupting Ford and GM because our automakers were forced to follow the law. They had to assume the stupidity could be sustained. They deal with the reality that confronts them.
This is the Democrat way. They know how to push the envelope to control America and it has boomeranged on them. Their tactic failed miserably and they have no back-up plan. That is a good thing.

One relative of mine has worked for oil companies throughout the World as a very specialized geologist for oil prospection operations.
I was told most of the alternative solutions that can pop up at any time and anywhere is bought ASAP by the powerful consortiums and all technical documents, drawings and diagrams, filed patents, and commercial or manufacturing licenses immediately disappear in their vaults for no one to be able to make profit with them!
We recently watched S4: The Bob Lazar Story (on prime). It was fascinating! Working with AI and the producers, Lazar accurately depicted the “anti-gravity” (he said they called it that but weren’t really sure) ship hovering and moving around.
It was an intriguing depiction of the energy device that powered the vehicle. By the time oil is scarce, I have no doubt such technology will replace oil.

It is actually a rational practice by management, for whom fear is the greatest motivator. They fear monetary losses more than any other factor.
It will only change if people refuse to buy. Unfortunately in the modern world, opting out of the energy market is for all purposes impossible, for most people.
For things to change, some other fear must supersede their fear of losing money. The only thing I can think of, is fear of prison time.
