Getting back to DeSantis. I'm glad we are uniting the party but remember this DeSantis isn't endorsing Trump because he liked him or his policies he's doing it for himself. Seems a rather suspicious thing to say. Either they are sticking to their fear mongering tactics…or….the “danger” they face is the existential threat of people waking up to reclaim their sovereignty and calls for peace…why do we need NATO?
I like your last paragraph! I believe people are waking up to reclaim their sovereignty and as an American, if NATO countries won't pay their "fair share" but expect America to pay for it, then NATO is as useless as tits on a boar hog!

Trump's VP pick will be a spineless sycophant, because that's the only kind of person he trusts. The biggest favor Trump ever did me was getting that weasel Pence out of Indiana, and Trump immediately turned on him when he showed signs of growing a spine and upheld the law instead of reinforcing Trump's fantasies. As for any hypothetical second Trump administration it's likely to be even less effective than his first since he's managed to alienate most of his even vaguely competent supporters.

Trump has learned absolutely nothing. He promises to double down on the failed and destructive policies of his first term and has turned against some of the few things he got right. The man can barely open his mouth without lying, and it takes more imagination than I can muster to believe his blather has any coherent purpose beyond self-promotion.
Yeah, let's see, just how many pointless government agencies did he dismantle in four years? How many "stupid wars" did he end? I can count the answer to both of those questions on the fingers of no hands. Electing Trump to "drain the swamp" made about as much sense as hiring Br'er Rabbit to cut down the Briar Patch. He shows no sign of learning anything and he's managed to alienate most of his supporters and advisors who were even vaguely competent. Most of their supposed policy proposals sound more like a fever dream than a coherent strategy. Any second Trump term would likely be a rerun of the first, with a little more sturm und drang but no more results.

With the Cabal, some things never change. IMO, sometime in the next two decades -- perhaps in the next four or five years -- NATO will cease to exist. Just as it should have ca. 1990 after the Soviet Union fell and the Warsaw Pact was dissolved.
