When Jesus told us that no iota or serif from the Law and Prophets would be ignored until it was fulfilled (not abolished) AND then declared "It is finished" and the veil rent from top to bottom; that to me, means that He truly fulfilled the Age of Covenants. Ezra and Nehemiah seem to agree with that (at least prophetically) when they wept for the lack of God's glory in the rebuilt temple.
Every prophecy unfulfilled in the Old Testament, passes through the works of the Son of God on the Cross (as Paul so meticulously points out in Romans and his other letters). The letter to the Hebrews also makes it clear that Jesus' once for all Sacrifice for our Ransom makes the offering of bulls and goats abhorrent to God.
We can and should pray for the healing of our land - we know that God would that none perish - but the choice remains ours! We, since we are in His Image and Likeness, possess the double-edged sword of free-will - we must choose wisely if we desire to experience His presence - but the Way has been made. Jesus told us (paraphrased): I must go so that the Holy Spirit can come - when He does He will guide you...but you must be born again.
So, in the age of the Son (the age of Covenants) what Solomon did was what he was commissioned to do - by God - and God honored it. For us now, after the fulfillment of the Law and now in the age of Communion and the infilling of His Spirit - the shedding of animal (or human) blood neither pleases or appeases the Lord God Almighty. That is my attempt at a brief answer! ;-)

It's a little different in my view...if you would like I have attached a couple of recent posts. His plan A was superseded by Adam's choice. His plan B was superseded by the people of Israel's choice (it is called the Mosaic Covenant - but was ratified by the entire nation - three times and it was they who opted for Moses to be the intermediary). And so He became man and fulfilled the need (paid the Price) for us all.
