Trump brought about 'Warp Speed' to speed it up, and avoid the economic devastation that would have resulted from a long lockdown. As it is, it was bad enough. He still considers this to be one of his major accomplishments, and viewed in the light of what would have happened had the Controllers had their way, he was right.
I too would prefer if he would come out and acknowledge that the vaxx caused a lot of injuries and is still causing injuries, and that he is sorry about that happening but without Warp Speed, the same or even more injuries would likely have happened.
So, overall was it a mistake? I don't believe it was. Trump masterfully put the experts the government gave him up front and center, and then pushed to get the program in place faster, knowing that a long lockdown would be far more damaging.
In hindsight, he could have just ignored the whole thing and treated it like a seasonal respiratory virus. But he did not have the benefit of hindsight. He had to act in real time based on what he was told, so he made his primary objective to minimize the harm to the country's economy by telling the 'science guys' to get on with it. With due respect, I do not agree with your statement. I’ve heard your analysis stated many times by others. Trump’s job as POTUS (especially in a Republic), is to protect individual liberty. He had other input from seasoned, intelligent doctors and heath care professionals. This affected not only the USA, but the entire world.

Your observation is right on the mark. It is becoming very noticeable. In individuals, this behavior is evidence of insecurity. They believe what they believe, well, because someone told them that this would make them a good person, a virtuous person. Being woke today is 'good' for instance.
But they know little of the underlying reasons why they should or should not believe. They are unable to defend their position. The only alternative available to them is a full-scale defensive attack -- shut down the debate so they can keep their virtuous position.
And you are correct, this is similar to the reactions of the Controllers. The reasons are a bit different -- one wants to be virtuous; the other wants power -- but in both cases, they know that their actual position is in fact indefensible, so they must act so as to avoid the need to defend it.

Underneath their intolerance is insecurity and fear; an alternate narrative is too threatening because they haven’t yet questioned their beliefs, their perceptions.
