I think we are just beginning to drill down past the layers of obfuscation to a truer understanding of who controls and has controlled this world for millennia.. We all want to know (I assume) who the true rulers are, so we can make our own informed choices.

Although I cannot find anywhere in the Constitution where 'border security' is mentioned, other than in the context of 'repelling Invasions' which the reader would reasonably read as 'repelling armed Invasions,' i.e. of a foreign adversary. I think this is because at that time (ca. 1790) there was not actually much concern about immigration. The US was actively soliciting immigrants, mostly from Europe.
However, supposing that this power is given to Congress as a derivative of 'providing for the common Defense,' there is nothing that says states cannot act. Article 1, Section 8 is an enabling clause -- gives powers, but does not mandate that they must be executed, nor prescribe States from doing so.
Article 1, Section 9 is restrictive -- it lists things the Congress may not do, and Section 10 lists things the States may not do, including 'engaging in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.'
So if Texas decided that it was being invaded and in imminent danger, it can act to repel such invasion. Or so it would seem. Any Federal law or policy to the contrary would be unconstitutional. That does not seem to stop the Feds from doing anything, however...

He spent several years seconded to the British and was in Germany for 2 years and wax on the Berlin Wall with the Bris and Americans. He is also a Vietnam vet. I was impressed that finally a president had the gumption to call out the UN and NATO in Europe like Trump did. The Americans had and now again paid almost the entire bill for the NATO story. It is unfortunate that with the advent of the “eu “ Europeans these days find themselves virtually in no man’s land. The sovereignty of their countries is constantly under fire. They have to deal with the unelected morons in Brussels running the EUC ( and they are very dangerous) and have such fools like a macron at the helm. The EU was designed as the “testing” ground for the NWO. It has failed dismally. The only good thing that has come out it is one currency. Your points are valid - I was merely making observations on perceptions outside the US in more recent times. You obviously understand how this all works but many of your fellow Americans do not. Just an observation from someone who is not American and a global traveller currently living in Europe.
The “don’t trust the Russians “ comment was interesting considering that outside the US it is “don’t trust America” and currently less of “let’s hate Russia”.
It is just unfortunate that by and large many well meaning and fine Americans have zero idea of how the global village really views them particularly in these last few years of the diabolical political mess America finds herself in. Many in the global village see America as the primary perpetrator of the situations facing every nation desperately trying to hang onto their sovereignty and doing a terrible job at it. You should be concerned about your “open” border policy spewing in thousands of potential entities wanting to harm your nation just as the EU globalists have encouraged thousands and thousands of “refugees” and or “military aged men” from countries who have a loathing for “colonists” nations. History will not be kind to the German Merkel who initiated this European open border situation and established the constant flow of illegal snd refugee people. Now look where it is out. Also at breaking point.
Americans also need a serious wake up call regarding their successive governments over at least 4 decades who have been ultimately responsible for the death and carnage and displacement of over 15 million men, women and children throughout the entire Middle East. Just a fact. It's true that outside of the USA but especially Europe, Americans are distrusted and disliked. It was that way when I was stationed in Germany and travelled to France and neighboring countries. I found that Europeans had a superior attitude of themselves.
I think it's important to remember, that without our military protecting them in the 80s and 90s during my tour of duty, and pouring millions into their economy, they would not have had it so good or such a smug attitude about themselves. We have always footed the bill for EU and it wasn't until Donald Trump demanded they pay their own bills; did I finally feel vindicated.
We rebuilt Germany like we rebuilt most of Europe after the world war. Older Germans were very much appreciative of our Soldiers and our Country. They understood the sacrifices we made and the lives we lost defending them. NAZI Germans, very active even then, in the 80s and 90s, provided list to the base of places American Soldiers were not permitted. I was personally denied entry to many restaurants near Stuttgart. German soldiers were weak and undisciplined. While we trained for combat, they cooked food and drank beer. In a combat situation, they would have been wiped out in one day. The enemy would have seen their burners, smelled their pork, heard their conversations, and blown them up. They could afford to be lazy because one million American forces were on the ground, ready to defend them. The millions we poured into countries in Europe were never appreciated. Americans paid to protect Europe instead of the other way around because of the stupid leadership we have had.
France was especially a smug country and I remember how terribly we were treated. Spain was absolutely terrible to us.
I remember how Poland begged us to leave Germany and come there. They wanted us and appreciated us. They knew that a million soldiers and their money could improve the lives of their citizens. I was 100% on board with that idea, after watching the smug and unappreciative Germans, but again, we had stupid Leadership running our country and our people who denied the request.
Trump changed all that for America. For the first time in my lifetime America was first. Europe hated the fact that NOW they were forced to pay up. Although it was temporary until the election was stolen, I was, for the first time, proud someone stood up for America. No more kicking us, no more bashing us, no more using us. It's easy to throw stones when you have everything you need, and your country is the size of Oregon. When your wine and cheese come at no cost to you. When your people are primarily of one race, when life is good, and you have others paying your bills. When your mail is delivered by US forces and the skies you fly in are secure because of US Forces. Americans are at the mercy of the Tyrants here that steal our money and take it to Europe. We don't have the luxuries that Europe had, and we've never enjoyed someone else protecting us. Thats going to change soon. Trump set you all straight and Europe had a fit.
We will return to that again and Europe will be on their own for the first time in a long time until they PAY! I personally would prefer we go to Poland and take our money from countries that have never appreciated our sacrifices. Obama and JOJO The clown don't represent us and they never have. Texas is a little late in their game here!!! They should have done this three years ago. Nothing like allowing all the criminals and terrorists in first, then pass the bill. All they have to do is redirect to the other states doing nothing.
The problem is, this is supposed to be a national program. Although I cannot find anywhere in the Constitution where 'border security' is mentioned, other than in the context of 'repelling Invasions' which the reader would reasonably read as 'repelling armed Invasions,' i.e. of a foreign adversary. (Article 1, section 8)
I think this is because at that time (ca. 1790) there was not actually much concern about immigration. The US was actively soliciting immigrants, mostly from Europe.
However, supposing that this power is given to Congress as a derivative of 'providing for the common Defense,' there is nothing that says states cannot act. Article 1, Section 8 is an enabling clause -- gives powers, but does not mandate that they must be executed, nor prescribe States from doing so.
Article 1, Section 9 is restrictive -- it lists things the Congress may not do, and Section 10 lists things the States may not do, including 'engaging in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.'
So if Texas decided that it was being invaded and in imminent danger, it can act to repel such invasion. Or so it would seem. Any Federal law or policy to the contrary would be unconstitutional. That does not seem to stop the Feds from doing anything, however...

I disagree that Texas would be in the wrong for acting sooner than this. At this point, we all know that if you do the right thing the left will criticize us for acting to protect our homes, properties and our families. Hello Catherine. I agree on most fronts. I am an army wife. My husband retired as a high ranking officer and was with special air services in his day. He spent several years seconded to the British and was in Germany for 2 years and wax on the Berlin Wall with the Bris and Americans. He is also a Vietnam vet. I was impressed that finally a president had the gumption to call out the UN and NATO in Europe like Trump did. The Americans had and now again paid almost the entire bill for the NATO story. It is unfortunate that with the advent of the “eu “ Europeans these days find themselves virtually in no man’s land. The sovereignty of their countries is constantly under fire. They have to deal with the unelected morons in Brussels running the EUC ( and they are very dangerous) and have such fools like a macron at the helm. The EU was designed as the “testing” ground for the NWO. It has failed dismally. The only good thing that has come out it is one currency. Your points are valid - I was merely making observations on perceptions outside the US in more recent times. You obviously understand how this all works but many of your fellow Americans do not. They really lack understanding on the mindsets and cultures of other nations. For the last days I have observed the most god awful and appalling rhetoric I have ever seen on Twitter re the Middle East. Thousands of brave military men and women went there in good faith for their country - not lost on me. We lost friends ourselves.

Just an observation from someone who is not American and a global traveller currently living in Europe.
The “don’t trust the Russians “ comment was interesting considering that outside the US it is “don’t trust America” and currently less of “let’s hate Russia”.
It is just unfortunate that by and large many well meaning and fine Americans have zero idea of how the global village really views them particularly in these last few years of the diabolical political mess America finds herself in. Many in the global village see America as the primary perpetrator of the situations facing every nation desperately trying to hang onto their sovereignty and doing a terrible job at it. You should be concerned about your “open” border policy spewing in thousands of potential entities wanting to harm your nation just as the EU globalists have encouraged thousands and thousands of “refugees” and or “military aged men” from countries who have a loathing for “colonists” nations. History will not be kind to the German Merkel who initiated this European open border situation and established the constant flow of illegal snd refugee people. Now look where it is out. Also at breaking point.
Americans also need a serious wake up call regarding their successive governments over at least 4 decades who have been ultimately responsible for the death and carnage and displacement of over 15 million men, women and children throughout the entire Middle East. Just a fact. The power hungry “follow the money” grab for the illegal drug trade, weapons trade, human trafficking, Oil, gas, gold and diamonds and in part genocide inside some nations has American governments hands all over it. And the world knows it. I am not sure the American people are as well aware as other nations. Not your fault - your governments had worked hard to ensure you have been kept in the dark and many of your younger generation indoctrinated and uneducated to ensure the pattern continues. Don’t worry my own homeland is not much better as we rely on the US as an ally although many of us here don’t any longer truly trust that relationship if the chips were down.

It's true that outside of the USA but especially Europe, Americans are distrusted and disliked. It was that way when I was stationed in Germany and travelled to France and neighboring countries. I found that Europeans had a superior attitude of themselves.
I think it's important to remember, that without our military protecting them in the 80s and 90s during my tour of duty, and pouring millions into their economy, they would not have had it so good or such a smug attitude about themselves. We have always footed the bill for EU and it wasn't until Donald Trump demanded they pay their own bills; did I finally feel vindicated.
We rebuilt Germany like we rebuilt most of Europe after the world war. Older Germans were very much appreciative of our Soldiers and our Country. They understood the sacrifices we made and the lives we lost defending them. NAZI Germans, very active even then, in the 80s and 90s, provided list to the base of places American Soldiers were not permitted. I was personally denied entry to many restaurants near Stuttgart. German soldiers were weak and undisciplined. While we trained for combat, they cooked food and drank beer. In a combat situation, they would have been wiped out in one day. The enemy would have seen their burners, smelled their pork, heard their conversations, and blown them up. They could afford to be lazy because one million American forces were on the ground, ready to defend them. The millions we poured into countries in Europe were never appreciated. Americans paid to protect Europe instead of the other way around because of the stupid leadership we have had.
France was especially a smug country and I remember how terribly we were treated. Spain was absolutely terrible to us.
I remember how Poland begged us to leave Germany and come there. They wanted us and appreciated us. They knew that a million soldiers and their money could improve the lives of their citizens. I was 100% on board with that idea, after watching the smug and unappreciative Germans, but again, we had stupid Leadership running our country and our people who denied the request.
Trump changed all that for America. For the first time in my lifetime America was first. Europe hated the fact that NOW they were forced to pay up. Although it was temporary until the election was stolen, I was, for the first time, proud someone stood up for America. No more kicking us, no more bashing us, no more using us. It's easy to throw stones when you have everything you need, and your country is the size of Oregon. When your wine and cheese come at no cost to you. When your people are primarily of one race, when life is good, and you have others paying your bills. When your mail is delivered by US forces and the skies you fly in are secure because of US Forces. Americans are at the mercy of the Tyrants here that steal our money and take it to Europe. We don't have the luxuries that Europe had, and we've never enjoyed someone else protecting us. Thats going to change soon. Trump set you all straight and Europe had a fit.
We will return to that again and Europe will be on their own for the first time in a long time until they PAY! I personally would prefer we go to Poland and take our money from countries that have never appreciated our sacrifices. Obama and JOJO The clown don't represent us and they never have. They are not who WE are. We have had to fight for everything we have. We are the most generous country on earth. In the future under TRUMP, we will finally take care of ourselves and make America GREAT.
