If I put my IRA and 401k money in a personal account for my entire working life, I would retire a multi-millionaire. Instead, I'm lucky if I get as much monthly as an illegal when I retire - less since I will have to pay taxes and Medicare (Medicare is not free) on it.
Since a lot of people don't have the discipline to save, just make IRAs and 401k's "forced" savings and put it into an individual account. The non-savers will hate it, but love it when they retire.

You correctly identify the low time preference of our tyrants that is missed by the high time preference of the masses. Stated goal: Save XXXX for retirement. Reality: Tyrants will debase that ~100% (think purchasing power) by the time you get there. Sure, you may have 1 million pieces of paper, but it doesn't matter much if they only buy what 10 thousand pieces of paper would have bought when you started. Like I said in the paper, we are up against [energy vampires]. We are the feeders. We are the batteries. For what? Everything we have come to realize and hate. There are many ways to learn, but my primary recommendation is to watch Rugpull Radio (start at Episode 1). We have done a tremendous amount of consolidation of our journey, learning, and experience. Read the books that we mention / discuss. Research the guests the many guests we have to find more people you like to add to your network. There is no easy button. You have to put in the work to understand the system. May sound like a foreign language in the beginning, but before long you will be fluent. Early in the Bitcoin saga, it was claimed that bitcoin was private, and that it could not be stolen. When bitcoin was about $12 per bitcoin, I got a wallet thru "Mt. Gox." I had not yet put any money into the wallet when Mt. Gox was raided shortly after, so I lost nothing. It was found that the Feds DID steal all the btc in Mt. Gox wallets. Other thefts have occurred since. Bitcoin is supposed to be private, but every transaction is recorded and traceable.
Btc is created by solving math puzzles that nobody cares about. Nothing of any actual value. That is the main reason I never actually bought any. No honor in it.
Bitcoin can be totally lost if you forget your long inscrutable inhuman "key."
IRS Form 1040 now asks whether you own any digital currency or sold any during the past year. Lying on that form is a felony.
