What Can We Do to Fix Our Elections?

The U.S. Election System has never been free from fraud, cheating, or manipulation.

In 2001, the Bush administration mandated use of electronic voting equipment and the accompanying technology through the Help America Vote Act (HAVA).  To quasi-execute HAVA, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) was created to distribute federal funding, test and approve electronic voting equipment and vendors, etc. 

The passing of HAVA & the new EAC was the moment where everything changed for U.S. elections. Sold to the American public as the future for modern elections and a new dawn for Americans with ADA needs to vote easily, conveniently, and independently, the integrity, security, and validity of U.S. elections was on the path to destruction.

By passing HAVA, it unleashed a bounty of unintended and intended consequences. U.S. elections turned into a multi-billion-dollar tech-driven industry almost overnight and expanded over decades. 

Today, the U.S. is dealing with the ramifications of an organically developed, resilient, and self-reinforcing, overly complex and complicated election system. The complex system has grown malignant, corrupt, and untrustworthy. The many winners who have gained power and wealth from the system are desperate to keep the status quo. The losers are the American citizens. It can be argued people outside the U.S. and many countries across the globe have lost, too. 

We’re now at a time where the American people are starting to wake up and realize things have grown critically wrong in our country.

Everyday people are experiencing negative changes that directly affect their lives like high gas and food prices, wild inflation, demolished 401(k)s, U.S. funded foreign wars, Big Pharma’s vaccine-exposed lies, big tech and government censorship has been proven real, open borders, and the state of public education is in crisis. 

The good news is, people are getting informed and acting to fix the individual problems they see and can change. 

However, there’s still a gap in understanding what is driving all these problems. When presented with the facts that the U.S. election system is the root cause, many people resist entertaining the case, simply acknowledging, or accepting it. 

The winners of the system—companies, government agencies, politicians, the corporate media, NGOs, and an array of power brokers—have successfully blinded and convinced the majority of the American public problems with our elections are unfounded “conspiracy theories.”

The propaganda constantly hits us from every angle, and it works in many ways: distracting, sowing confusion and doubt, discrediting, and personally destroying truth-tellers, while keeping many focused on the entrenched “fake war” between the establishment Democrat and Republican parties. This is all meant to keep us, The People separated, stop us from talking to each other, finding common ground, and understanding or agreeing on the real issues at hand. At all costs, the winners protected from the insulated system want to stop American people getting engaged and uniting to fix the core problem—a corrupted and broken election system.  

It’s entirely possible for the American population to restore integrity and trust in U.S. elections through focus and effort. To do that, Americans must understand the scope of today’s U.S. election system, how its working, the players, the roles that public and private organizations are playing, and how the legal system factors in. 

What will inevitably emerge is deep, systemic corruption. Government and business corruption rises above all other issues in its ability to enrage and motivate Americans to unite in the fight to eradicate it and hold those responsible accountable.

Given the size, depth, and scope of the U.S. Election System, it appears the task of fixing the elections is overwhelming; however, there are ways to systematically release the chokehold the public-private partnerships have.

Start with Defining the End-goal

Conceptually, the goal is to eliminate technology from the election machine. That is the root of all the problems that create the hydra of control. 

Ultimately, this means that, in order to restore election integrity, voters should vote on a single day. To ensure everyone can participate, election day should be made a national holiday. Voters should vote at their local precinct, using paper ballots and marked by hand. Counting ballots should start after the polls close and be done by hand under live-streaming high-definition cameras. Once the precinct totals are tallied, the precinct results should be released to the public in the precinct. From there, totals roll into the state total and are then released to the public and the media. 

As the public works toward this goal, there are several ways this can be achieved. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, because states and counties operate their elections differently.

So the question becomes, where are the objective weaknesses that create opportunities for correction? 

Below are five ideas:

1. Challenge local and state election equipment budgets.

a.     First, understand who controls the election budgets in your jurisdiction.  (Most likely, it’s the county commissioners). 

b.     Obtain the contracts and financial records for the election equipment, maintenance, and operation. 

c.     Make a comparison budget between the costs of the electronic voting equipment and what it would cost to conduct the election using hand-counted paper ballots.

d.     Publicly present the cost difference to the elected officials in town halls, meetings, in the local papers etc.

e.     Center your case to eliminate electronic voting equipment around the financials. Make it clear that elected officials are wasting money—roll it into a campaign issue.

2. Challenge election equipment contracts.

a.     Your locality likely has rules, statutes, or laws that govern how a contract is evaluated, number of competitive bids, and awarding processes, given the lack of election equipment vendors. Get into the details of these laws.

b.     Get into the details of the electronic voting contracts and look for violations.

c.     Publicly prove there are local contract, statute, rule, or law infractions with the electronic voting contracts, making them null and void.  

3. Conduct canvassing.

a.     Conduct canvassing in your local area. The overall goal is to verify publicly-available voter data that can be obtained through your Sec State office and/or county election office.

b.     USEIP.org has publicly available, free playbooks and training materials for how to conduct canvassing that is legal and can stand up in court. 

c.     USEIP produced a canvassing report that has been used in Colorado for legal action, public education, and public pressure on state and local election officials. Find a video overview of the canvassing project here.

d.     Canvassing is basically the only way to determine whether election records are accurate and valid in any state or locality. If it’s found that election records are not accurate, this opens the door for legal action.

4. Force unconstitutional election law, statute, and rule challenges.

a.     Watch for new laws, statutes, and rule changes being passed on the state and local level. In general, be looking for measures that centralize election power at the state level. In other words, be aware of seemingly innocuous changes that strip local election officials of responsibility and control over local elections.

b.     Challenge these laws, statutes, and rules by comparing your state constitution’s election laws and statutes. 

c.     Educate your state legislators and local election officials on the violations.

5. Hold election officials accountable.

a.     Legally challenge local election officials’ dereliction of duty and/or maladministration. What is happening now, is local election officials are caught in the middle. On one hand, they are being told to follow questionable election laws they can’t control. On the other hand, they must uphold their election duties mandated through their oath of office that are in direct contradiction of these new laws. 

b.     By holding local officials accountable, this raises awareness and puts pressure on lawmakers and state election officials, meaning local election officials can ultimately go to jail if they’re found guilty of election administration violations.

c.     There are a range of associations that gather election officials in order to manage and control elected and non-elected election officials. Tax dollars are often used to pay membership fees to these questionable associations (e.g. county clerk associations, NASS, NASED etc.). Stop local and state election officials from using tax dollars to be members of these quasi-governmental NGOs.

In Summary

The above areas and specific points are a small sample of what individuals can do to find the truth, share the truth, and fix elections in their own backyards. 

Focusing on local action is the most effective way to make meaningful change to curb election administration centralization and expose corruption in our election system.
