I think proof of stake is the only realistic avenue at the moment, the energy consumption costs of proof of work is going to make widespread use of BTC impossible.

The biggest problem with cryptocurrencies is trust and legitimacy, it didn't help crypto's reputation that "fun coins" were put out there as a joke and some of them were taken seriously "dogecoin" anyone?.
I can see the Cabal seriously trying break the proof of stake system to issue counterfeit transactions, the issue with money laundering will persist when you have an enemy with as much financial resources as the Cabal has(had?) and are willing to push their fiat currencies to "poison" legit cryptocurrencies while laundering their assets out of the collapsing fiat system.
Well, all technologies can be used for good or bad. When the fiat system falls, a new system will replace it, and the rules will be different. As with all forms of human endeavor, there will be 'cat and mouse' games. One of the toughest challenges for fiat currency has always been counterfeiting. After all if a government can print money out of thin air, why wouldn't everyone else want to?
So it will be for any new system. There will be false starts, there will be folks that lose money and others that steal it. The Cabal, or whatever remains of it after many of its actors experience Nuremberg 2.0, will no doubt try to maintain as much power and wealth as it can. All I can say is that it will be an interesting show 🍿
Yep, Nuremberg 2.0, the final "accounting" for the Cabal.
The profession of "forensic accountant" might actually be a fun and dangerous one if you're given the job of smoking out all the financial assets of the Cabal.
I'm reminded of the movie the Untouchables with Sean Connery and what happened to the financial agent on his team after Capone got nailed for tax evasion.
