It delivers two very crucial points to patriots, to fight tyranny means enduring incredible hardship, and the power of having principles even an enemy will come to admire and seek shelter in.
As I said in a previous post, I just returned from researching ancestors on Cape Cod. I was astounded by the incredible hardships the Patriots as well as the entire communities endured. We always think they Declared Independence, fought a few battles and won. We can't even begin to fathom the depths and years of sacrifices by them and their families, to make us a free, independent country.

A well researched and written article about one of our great ancestors. The way things seem to be headed, a lot more study of Francis Marion and his tactics is going to be essential for our survival.

"The Patriot" has long been one of my favorite movies. Your in-depth "explanation" has moved that movie much higher on my list of favorites.

Thanks for reawakening old memories of a book read decades ago when in the 5th Grade, "Francis Marion, The Swamp Fox."
In this 5GW we all need to be familiar with tactics that befuddle and confuse the enemy and The Swamp Fox is a great place to begin that education.
